Making Frosty 2.0 Part 2 - The Body

Well as the title says this is part 2 of the semi how to on building Frosty. so after splitting the body asunder I realised that it would be a good opportunity to only attach the parts to one side of the model so that I could open it up if I decided to add LED's or the such to the model at a later date. The next thing I needed was a way to attach the head to the body as I was after a "Mr Freeze"esque look for this character I thought it would be good to add a dished type look to the neck with a raised section in the middle that the head would sit on. Luckily for me gold old trusty EMA to supply me with the parts for this, and yes I did part with a good deal of money to EMA and my local model shop for parts for this guy Hot

Next I glued in the ellipse to the one half of the body so that the "freezer" parts could be added here to keep Frosty Frozen.

With the top of the body glued in I could move on to the neck piece that would sit in the centre of the body, for this I went back to my EMA bits and used a tube cap to achieve this base look ( note that a magnet has been glued in the middle of the tube cap to allow for removal of the headTongue out

Ok so we are done for now, look out for part three

Making Frosty 2.0 Part 1 - The Body

Well I thought since I haven't got much news at the moment I would post a kind of how to on how I'm building Frosty 2.0. So where to begin? Well a while a go I had the ideas for some weird characters and one of those were Frosty 2.0, the back story for him was that the old fun loving Frosty from the song was involved in an accident with a zamboni machine, and was rebuilt by a mad, sorry slightly angry, scientist. I started off with this concept to begin my build

it took a lot of searching and false starts with this puppet before I finally found a body that I was happy with, and as it always seems to be it was while I was trawling the isles in a local toy store that I found this buzz Lightyear body.

so with the body found I was able to start stripping him down.

me removing the screws that was such a blessing 4 screws and the figure was in several parts so easy to work on:)

Foam and Latex Puppet Experiment

Well I had a great Idea about 2 weeks ago to try the 2 part flexible Polyurethane foam I had here along with the latex to build a "foam latex" puppet, so I knocked up a body out of clay and made a mould, painted the latex in and then built an armature for it, and filled the mould with the foam and ened up with this
